RR Spring Club Handicap – 14th June 2018
Well done to everyone who ran and volunteered at our club handicap on the 14th June, especially to Ian who did a great job of organising the event. We have now compiled the results which can be found in the link below:
There may be some discrepancies in the times on your watches and those in the results, but the difference should only be marginal so no complaints please!
Most of you ran quicker than your predicted handicap, which shows that you’re fitter than you think you are and are capable of running hard and sustaining race pace for 6km. This should give you all confidence that even when you are feeling tired, believe in yourself and you can often find a bit more in the tank!
It was great to have so many new members along with RR’s who have recently graduated from our beginners running this event. Whilst it is predominantly a bit of fun and different to our usual club sessions it was great to see the competitive edge shining through and everyone challenging themselves to push harder. Now we all have a benchmark and a time to beat, we’ll hopefully run this event later in the summer.
Hopefully this has whet your appetite to be involved in future races with Roundhay Runners, so have a look at the RR Race Calendar to choose your next summer race or maybe give the Yorkshire Vets series a try which is a great introduction to trail races. Also don’t forget we have some great club events on the horizon; Danefield Relays (3rd July), Washburn Valley Relays (13th July) and Leeds Country Way (2nd September) so keep an eye out for details of these on our Facebook Group.
Don’t forget if you’d like to represent the club in any of these events you need to run in RR kit which can be ordered here via the kit order form.
