Gargrave Show Fell Race

Saturday 16th August by Pete Wilkie I like running off road, and ever since reading ‘Feet in the Clouds’ a few years ago I’ve aspired to do more fell races. I’ve flirted with the periphery of this community by running the fun Wooden Tops series with others from RR, and loved the experience. Those were fun, muddy, inclusive events that were designed and marketed as being accessible to all. They …Read More

Roundhay Runners on the International Running Scene

Saturday 2nd August 2014 by Laura Dransfield Early on Saturday morning, Franco set off on a 7km warm-up, in true Kenyan style, down the valley to the start of the race. Feeling less energetic, I shortly followed on a pikpiki. By 8:20am (10min before advertised race start time) there was only one other runner. We approached a steward who informed us that the race would ‘probably’ start at 10am…. After an …Read More

Rob’s Edinburgh Marathon 2014

25.05.14 Last September I did my first ever Marathon in Nottingham and it was a great success, I completed it in sub 2:50.  So when it came to signing up for my second marathon I was really feeling the pressure. I had two goals for this race: 1. To get a new PB 2. To get a championship time for London 2015. Unlike Nottingham, where I had a stress free …Read More

Some thoughts on predicting a marathon time

I have only run one marathon (Yorkshire marathon, October 2013) and it was horrible. It was painful both physically and mentally and the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. My next marathon will be Amsterdam. Before Yorkshire I put in my 10k and half marathon times to many race time predictor websites to get an idea of what time I should be aiming for. 10k baseline time before Yorkshire 00:40:32 …Read More

Boston Marathon 2014

Monday 21st April 2014 By Alistair Urquhart This was never going to be an ordinary race. The tragic events of 15th April 2013 guaranteed that the next staging of the oldest marathon in the world would take on an elevated significance. A city defined by its pride in this storied event became determined to reclaim the finish line, and in doing so, hope to accelerate the healing of deep distress. …Read More

Sunday 30th March 2014 By Hayley, Ann & Rob THE EXPO 5 excited people arrived at Berlin Tempelhof Airport, which was the location of the race expo.
