Sunday 31st August 2014

Sunday 31st August 2014 saw the club take part in our first ever Leeds Country Way Relay, a race that was founded 24 years ago and organised by Kippax Harriers.

In summary, the race is a 64 miles, round the Leeds Country Way trail, split between 6 legs and each leg has two runners per team running together.

Well done to everyone who took part in the race – the Lads team came 12th (Next year we are gonna get top 10) & Ladies came 49th.

Special shout outs go to everyone who ran on legs 4-6, you had to run through some very hot conditions. Well done to Innes who was a proper trooper, managing to complete his leg even after falling over on his ankle – he did have some help from his carer/partner Jonathan who held his hand over the finish line.

We also managed to claim one trophy on the day for the fastest time on Leg 3 (Myself & James Carvello). Next year lets aim for 3-4 teams in the race.

A HUGE thankyou goes to the organisation & support crew Allison, Andrea, Mary, Ian, Ed Ann & Chris who made ferrying runners around and fuelling is up seamless and stress free.

It was, I’m sure everyone agrees a great day for the club #vivarr #unleashthefox
