Sunday 28th April 2013

By Monica Kapoor

Having been struck down by a viral bug midweek I was worried that I might not make it to Sunday’s postponed Bradford 10K… thankfully I did and am definitely going to make it an annual affair.

The race started and finished in Centenary Square and was in the main a pretty flat course. The atmosphere was very relaxed and it felt like a pretty intimate affair compared with many races, with just 808 runners (527 male + 281 female) participating on the day. Parking was free and very close to the starting line, finishers received a bottle of water and a T-shirt, and I had received a text message with my chip time (54:33) by the time I had returned to my car! There were supporters along the way and I even got a “come on Roundhay” call which was rather nice. Technical stuff: a 10.04km run with a total ascent of 32m and a maximum elevation of 122m; times for fastest male and female runners were 31:02 and 39:38 respectively.

All in all a great run on a pretty windy day!Monica.
